Hostel
|
Consett YMCA has an Alpine Style Hostel available all year round. It's ideal for Individuals, Families, Groups, Schools & Colleges.
Our hostel at Consett can provide accommodation for up to forty five guests. The centre is ideally situated in County Durham on the edge of Northumberland National Park and the North Pennines. Within easy reach are a large number of venues for recreational and educational visits: - Beamish Open Air Museum, Hadrians Wall, The Historic City of Durham and Cathedral, The Farne Islands, Lindisfarne (Holy Island), Kielder Water & Forest, The Lake District.
 The centre offers hostel accommodation mainly in 5,6 and 7 bedded rooms. There are lounges with TV, pool table and a small kitchen for making drinks or snacks and a laundry. You may wish to take the opportunity to arrange a more structured evening programme, this could include a roller disco, use of the sports hall, bar-b-que or an outdoor activity session.
If you wish to know more or would like advice on planning a residential or activity course please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to receive preliminary visits from teachers or group leaders. The staff at Consett YMCA will endeavour to make your residential successful and we look forward to hearing from you.
Based in Consett, County Durham we are ideally situated, being only 2 minutes from the C2C cycle route stretching across the country from Whitehaven in the West to Sunderland or the alternative finishing point of Tynemouth in the East.

Cafe
|
 We have a modern cafe/restaurant with a large dining area that can seat up to 50 people per sitting with food prepared and served by our friendly staff.
The cafe/restaurant caters for our guests, by acting as a dining room for the groups who stay here as part of one of our Activity or Corporate Packages. It is also open to anyone who uses the centre, such as Youth Clubs, meetings, students on one of our programmes or anyone taking part in a single day course or activity, etc, Providing them with light refreshments, such as tea, coffee or soft drinks and confectionary all at very reasonable prices.

| Conference Rooms |
The YMCA has on offer 2 modernly furnished conference rooms, and we can accomodate up to 80 people for conferences, meetings, courses... etc. We can also provide equipment such as flip-charts, projectors with screens, VHS and DVD. We can additionally provide light refreshments and/or a buffet if required.

| Gymnasium |
We have a multi purpose Sports Hall/Gymnasium that can be used not only be used for the more normal sporting activities that you would expect in a sports hall,  such as Five-A-Side Football, Basketball, Netball, but it is also used for the many other indoor activities that we can provide here at the YMCA, such as Archery, , Skateboarding and Roller Blading, Climbing etc.
The Sports Hall can be booked for use by anyone and you are welcome to come and see the facilities beforehand.

| Paint Ball |
 We have an indoor Paintball facility situated less than 5 minutes walk away from the main building. This old warehouse is ideal for anyone wanting to try their hand at Paintballing for the first time and as safety here is always an issue we have experienced instructors on hand at all times. The facility is ideally suited to small groups and features a Safe Area, and a small Battle Ground that can be used for simple target practice or also for small team combat, with plenty of obstacles to provide cover.
Our Paintball facility can be booked for use by anyone and you are welcome to come and see the facilities beforehand.

| YMCA Shop |
 We also have a charity shop in Consett's town centre. It sells many things from second hand books and toys to clothes and furniture. The shop is run entirely as a non-profit charity shop and any profit that is made goes back into the local community through the YMCA in the form of the projects and programmes we run within the community.
We always welcome any donations that you may care give, and you never know you may also find something that you would like to take away with you.
We are located in the Derwent Centre and everyone is welcome to come browse, buy or donate.

 COMPUTER ROOM: We have 8 internet enabled PCs that can be used, if required by groups during their activities. The computers are all Intel Pentium ?s and because we share the Local Authority's internet server we can therefore provide a very fast internet connection
COMMUNAL AREA: We also have an area within the YMCA that can be used during breaks or on an evening by any groups staying overnight on a Corporate Package or other Programme. Within this area there are 6 comfortable couches and also a Pool Table.
CONSERVATORY: Adjacent to the Communal Area we also have a Conservatory that can be used by our guests. The Conservatory has 3 more couches, a couple of tables and also a Television.
